First Hope Bank Celebrates Bank Charter Centennial Anniversary with Local Donation

Hope, NJ, December 22, 2011

A century ago on December 21, 1911, The First National Bank of Hope was issued a bank charter by the Comptroller of the Currency. This certified Lewis C. Beatty, Sr. and other directors to create a bank to serve the needs of residents in northwestern New Jersey. 100 years later, First Hope Bank is in its fourth generation of Beatty family leadership and has grown to six offices in northwest New Jersey, in addition to three mortgage offices around the state. First Hope Bank was happy to celebrate the anniversary of the charter by making a donation to a local organization.

A $2000 donation was given to the Hampton Township Fire and Rescue Department and was used to help the department purchase a low angle rope rescue kit. The kit can be used for any tactical rescue and can be a vital piece in saving people’s lives. “Before, we had to borrow a rescue kit from other towns. Precious minutes are lost when we had to wait to receive the equipment. Now we can jump in immediately when someone needs help,” Chief David Gunderman of the Fire Department said.

Mike Orlowski, CFO of the Fire Department, added, “With the economy the way it is, we depend on the generosity of donors. First Hope previously helped us to purchase our fire truck, and another donation like this not only helps the township; it helps the surrounding communities. They are a tremendous organization and an absolute pleasure to deal with.”

The bank has always made it a point to be active within the communities it serves. “Actively giving in the community has been a pillar of our philosophy for almost 100 years. It is very fitting that on the anniversary of the day that we were approved to serve the community, we are able to make a donation like this one,” Daniel Beatty, Chief Operating Officer of the bank said. First Hope will host numerous celebrations throughout 2012 to mark the opening of its first office in Hope on March 4, 1912.
